Taking Control

Greenfield Center is an intensive outpatient alcohol and drug treatment center for adults ages 18 and above. We began in 1987 in Savannah, Georgia, as an outpatient facility because of our belief that recovery must take place in the real world. In 1989 we moved to Jacksonville, Florida, and have maintained the Greenfield Center ever since.

A large percentage of our patients who require detoxification do so on an outpatient basis. However, when inpatient detoxification is indicated the patient is referred where their insurance directs. Those who are self-insured are sent to the most practical facility that meets their needs.

Treatment consists of attending group counseling daily (Monday through Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.), and individual therapy as often as indicated by the patient’s needs. Additionally, patients are strongly encouraged to attend Alcoholics Anonymous/Narcotics Anonymous several times a week. Projected time for completion of the intensive portion of the program is eight to twelve weeks. At that time patients are discharged into our Alumni Program, which meets each Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In addition to the above, family members attend Family Group each Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Greenfield Center provides workshops and training for physicians, nurses, social workers, lawyers, clergymen, alcohol and drug abuse counselors, and lay people in the treatment and prevention of chemical dependency. We have trained in excess of 1,000 professionals in how to prevent and treat chemical dependency including workshops for the family Practice Residency Program at St. Vincent’s Medical Center.
